Engagement: Performance Audit of the King County Solid Waste Management Division, King County, Washington
Description of Services: Completed an objective third-party performance audit of 450 FTE King County Solid Waste Division, Seattle area, Washington. The engagement involved evaluating the organizational structure, identifying and assessing the operational efficiency, and evaluating financial reserve and replacement funds and a request for a system wide rate review. We conducted interviews with management as well as key groups, and performed a benchmark comparison analysis. Following this analysis, we reported on the efficiency and effectiveness of the Solid Waste Division and identified potential areas for improvement including organizational revisions and process issues. Our audit identified 42 areas requiring improvements, all of which were approved by the County Board of Supervisors.
